My DVR Moment of Last Week

This weeks honor goes to the Project Runway judges for finally not letting personality get in the way of the competition. Ping Wu had oodles of personality, but it just did not translate well into her creations. After a strong start(which you either loved or hated. I thought it was daring) she quickly melted into the abyss, making very obscure choices, which led me to believe that maybe daring isn't always what's best. Poor Pamela (who was booted the week before), she may not have had the best look for her models rear, but at least she kept it reigned in. So although we are down a memorable character, at least the spirit of what PR should be is now in tact.

Missed Moment: I think I might be a little obsessive, given how my last missed moment involved NPH as well. I really would have loved to have seen him judge American Idol. Even without watching, I'm on board for him to be Simon's replacement when he leaves. Who's with me?

Jersey Shore renewed for a 2nd season

This should come as no surprise to anyone: "The Situation" and the rest of the guilty pleasure gang at Jersey Shore will be back for a second season. You can read more about it here at TVGuide.

I caught a few episodes, and although I know I shouldn't admit it, I did enjoy them a bit. I felt dirty doing so, but it seemed like I was being transported to some sort of alternate universe, and it certainly made me forget my life for a bit. Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't have admit that as well.

Rip Torn Arrested

Now this is something from the weird side of the news. Actor Rip Torn (The Larry Sanders Show, Men in Black) was arrested on Friday for allegedly trying to rob a Connecticut Bank, as per Access Hollywood. He was held on a $100,000 bail and has a scheduled court date for February 1st.

Flockhart not scaling back Brothers and Sisters role after all

I guess I should have waited. According to this article on TVGuide, producers released a statement saying she will be back as a regular, and be as busy as ever. Rob Lowe will still depart the series, with the creators now working on an exit strategy for his character.

More thoughts on the CBS/Mancrunch situation

Update: I have just seen the commercial, and although I find it harmless and quite funny, it doesn't have that feel of the commercials that I remember watching in past years. Since I haven't watched a superbowl in a while, I had to do some research and found the Snickers ad that had two men kissing (accidentally, but they still kissed) I also had the same reaction. It was funny, but didn't have that umph for me as well. I guess they figured Snickers had the money to back it up, or men are allowed to kiss, as long as they rip their chest hair out at the end.

CBS rejects Gay Dating Sites Ad for Superbowl

I know this isn't the usual T.V. news, but I thought I would talk about this article I found on the TVGuide website: CBS Rejects Gay Dating Site's Super Bowl Ad

Earlier this week they ran into some controversy with a pro-choice ad that angered some women's groups. This time around they passed on an advertisement from Mancrunch (I absolutely love, love, love the name) because it is "not within the Networks broadcast standards for Superbowl Sunday." From a business standpoint, I can see where this came from, especially when you take into consideration the flack that ABC got from the whole AMA/Adam Lambert fiasco. However, I refuse to believe that the network that gives us fine, family friendly programming such as Two and a Half Men( a show I will admit I do enjoy) has a leg to stand on if their decision was based on any type of moral standpoint. What I think, and this is just my opinion, is that they are afraid to piss off the supposed macho guys that are watching with their beer guzzling buddies, and a possible loss of revenue from more conservative companies. It's a money game, and sadly, being truly moral sometimes loses out.

Now, to be fair to both sides, if their decision was based on the quality of the ad, then that is a different story. Superbowl ads tend to be very high stakes and well produced, and any ad offered up would have a high bar to reach. After doing a search on youtube I was able to find the a video that claims to be the ad, I'm just too tired to look right now to give a fair assessment.

Honestly though, I really do hope that CBS wasn't letting fear cloud their judgment. I'll just have to wait and see until I actually take a look at the ad more closely. If you choose, you can watch below.

Samantha Harris to leave Dancing With the Stars

I guess depending on who you are, you will either find this either really sad or really good news from TVGuide.com: Samantha Harris leaving Dancing with the Stars.

I'll admit, I was never a big fan of hers, but I wasn't part of the population flooded the message boards with hate every time she opened her mouth. In my opinion, live television isn't for everyone, and she just happens to fall in that category. I've seen her in other things, and thought she was pretty decent.

How about you? Are you sad to see her go? Or are you ecstatic?

Ugly Betty Cancelled

Wouldn't you know it, the moment I start watching again, something like this happens. EW's Michael Aussiello confirms that ABC has indeed cancelled Ugly Betty, and has reduced this seasons order from 22 to 20 episodes. On the plus side, the creators will have enough time to give a proper series finale.

I guess I better not start watching Heroes again as well. Who am I kidding, I wasn't planning on that ever again.

Stan Lee to Guest star on Big Bang Theory

Stan Lee, the creator of Spider Man and other fan boy classics, is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of the Big Bang Theory. Lee will pay a visit to the gang's favorite comic book store, and I think you can figure out the rest. I, for one, cannot wait to see Sheldon's reaction, and pray he will have the hulk hands on at the time. I mean, it just makes sense that he would.

Pants On The Ground or Back Pockets on the Floor: You Decide

Found this article off of Access Hollywood: Is American Idol's Pants on the Ground a rip-off?

According to the article, an elderly rap duo called the Green Brothers produced a similar song in 1996 entitled Back Pockets on the Floor, which can now be found on youtube (or by watching below). They are not upset with Larry Platt, but they just wanted to make sure people knew their song exists as well.

I'll let you be the judge. Watch both below and comment away on which is your favorite.

Team Leno vs. Team Coco

I've decided that my brain has gone into too much overload with all this, and will not be posting any new information for a while (if you haven't already noticed).

Calista Flockheart reduces role on Brothers and Sisters

Just caught this off the Ausiello blog on ew.com: Calista Flockhart scales back Brothers and Sisters workload

What I found interesting is that the Aussielo states that this was a contributing factor to Robe Lowe leaving the show, since he had already begun to feel his role was diminishing. This just sealed the deal. It makes sense, given that Flockhart plays his spouse, and although she will remain a regular, being in less episodes means less focus on all aspects of her character. Without her, what reason would they have to see her husband? On the flipside, you can refer to the Roseanne factor, in which the husbands and boyfriends appeared more than the daughters, which kind of felt a little odd, but somehow they made it work. Maybe Lowe should have given it a shot.

Larry the Cable Guy to star on History

History Channel has green lit Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, which is set to premiere later this year. According to Reuters, the show will focus on the exploits of Larry as he immerses himself in various jobs and lifestyles. I guess it's a sort of 30 days, but with a Blue Collar spin? Hmmm, well he's been a cable guy, health inspector and in the army, so I guess Larry's been prepping for this his entire career.

Mia Michaels returns to So You Think You Can Dance

Mia Michaels, choreographer extraordinaire, will be returning to So You Think You Can Dance, but only during the audition episodes. Love her or hate her (and I know a lot of you do) you have to admit that something was missing this past season, and although there were many great routines, I just don't feel it had a signature one like the type she brings. Lets hope she decides to come back fully.

Anyone who doubts her ability need only watch below to see what I mean.

Forest Whitaker set to star in Criminal Minds spinoff

Oscar winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) is in final negotiations to star in the Criminal Minds spin-off, as per TVGuide. The new cast will be introduced this spring on the original CM, and I'm assuming it will take twice as long since it will have double the cast to explain the profile one at a time. Has anyone noticed that as well? I enjoy the show, but that is the only thing I can never get over.

My DVR Moment of Last Week

This weeks honor goes out to The Big Bang Theory, which had me laughing consistently, but none more so than seeing Sheldon trapped by his own security system, and no longer the master of his own bladder.

Runner-up: Elena and Damon, The Vampire Diaries. I'm still on team Stefan, but there was a kind of sweetness to their interaction, even if Damon has something up his sleeve. Just when you think our favorite bad boy vamp has gone soft, he cold heartedly (I guess there isn't any other way with a vamp) kills Gina Torres's character for tipping off Lexi's boyfriend to his whereabouts. As I have said before, I can't wait to see where this is going.

Second Runner Up: Finally a challenge on Project Runway that is a challenge to creativity and provided a little drama. Not only did the designers have to create an outfit out of a burlap sack, they were also hand selected by the models. So naturally, someone gets a little po'd.

Missed moment: An NPH directed episode of How I Met Your Mother. And I call myself a fan. For shame.

American Idol Contestant Let Go

American Idol contestant Michael "Big Mike" Lynch has been let go from competition due to a confidentiality breach, according to the article I read on EW.com. Lynch's dad was the culprit, leaking the fact that his son had made the top 24 to their hometown paper the St. Petersburgs Times, something he was required to keep quiet until the episode was to air.

How I Met Your Mother Renewed

Fans of How I Met Your Mother can breathe a sigh of relief: The ensemble gem has been renewed for a sixth season. Now maybe we can finally see more than just a foot of the mother. If I get my wish, then the mother will end up being.....maybe I'll save that for later.

Late Recaps

For those waiting for recaps (all zero of you), I've been busy working a second job plus taking classes, so my tv watching has taken a serious tumble. I will however, be able to catch up on the weekends, so stay tuned.

Vamipre Diaries: The TVGuide Magazine Interview

What's in store for Stefan, Damon, and Elena? Find out in this interview from TVGuidemagazine.com: The Vampire Diaries: Love at First Bite.

I don't wanna say too much, since the article says it all, but I am intrigued by the direction things seem to be taking. I can't wait to keep watching.

Neil Patrick Harris to Guest Star on Glee!

Oh please let this be true, please let it be true! According to the TVGuide article I read, Neil Patrick Harris is in talks with Ryan Murphy to be a guest star on the Golden Globe winning comedy in a episode to be directed by Joss Whedon(Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dollhouse.) The legend, wait for it, -ary Barney Stinson would have a role especially created for him, which would include singing and dancing (naturally). Whedon and Harris previously worked on the popular internet Musical Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

Anyone who doubts Harris' ability need only watch his latest musical performance, which if you haven't seen you can view below.

Brett Favre's Pants on the Ground

Didn't I tell you this thing would spread like wildflower. Take a lot at Brett Favre's rendition via MSNBC. He didn't do the whole song, but if someone as busy as him heard it, you know it's something big.

Leno's side of the story

On a previous post, I wrote that I was going to wait and see what Jay Leno had to say before making any judgments against him, unlike many others out there, and while browsing through the T.V. news on Yahoo came across this: Leno: Don't Blame Conan (or Me).

According to the article, Leno asked to be let out of his contract twice, and had told NBC executives that moving him to the 10 o'clock slot was a very bad idea. Leno also states that NBC had misled him into thinking that the move back to his old time slot was agreed upon by all, including Conan. O'Brien had rejected the plan a week earlier, and has been negotiating with NBC on a proper settlement amount (with some sources citing as much as 30 million).

I'm not sure what to think on this. On one hand, it could just be damage control. On the other, it wouldn't surprise me one bit for it to all be NBC's fault. They have not done the best when it comes to managing their programming lately, and this kind of blunder would fit in with their already souring reputation. But before I scream conspiracy or cover-up, I'm gonna get myself a little bit more informed. Although, as I have said before and I'll say again, I still feel that Conan was the one who ultimately got the most unfair treatment, and deserves as much money as he can get.

Hawaii Five-O update ordered by CBS

CBS has greenlighted an update of Hawaii Five-O, according to the article I read on TVGuide.com.

The original centered around an elite group of the Hawaii state police, and was famous for it's theme song, as well as the immortal closing line "Book'em Danno."

Now, I know many will bemoan the idea, especially with reboots of Knight Rider and the Bionic Woman still fresh in some peoples minds, but as usual, I will keep an open mind. After all, when they work, they can be quite exciting (Star Trek, Battlestar Galatica) and can delve a little deeper than the original.

It's a tough trick, these updates and reboots. You have to try to keep the flavor of the source while making your own mark. Plus, you have die hard fans on your case about every little detail and if you make a wrong step, well, you all know the rest.

It almost makes you just want to come up with original ideas.

My Favorite Moment of The Golden Globes: Mo'nique's Acceptance Speech

In a night of great class and humility (Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep and their wonderful speeches), Mo'Nique stood out, not only with a very touching thank you to director Lee Daniels and her co-star Gabourey Sidibe, but with a tearful plea for victims of abuse to come out and tell someone. If you missed it, you can watch the video below.

Larry Platt: The Next William Hung? Another memorable American Idol moment

Everyone's seen it already, but I thought I would post it for anyone that might have missed the next possible youtube sensation. Give it a glance.

Larry Platt Performs Pants on the Ground

The thing I like about Idol is that once in a while, someone will come along that may not necessarily have talent, but a certain charm and charisma about them that kind of shines through. Sure, Larry Platt and William Hung couldn't sing at all, but even when turned away (Platt was way past the cutoff age anyhow), they at least weren't rude or acted self-important, like so many others that are given a no from the judges. That is part of their appeal. If you think about it, even some of the hopefuls that did make it could probably stand to learn a lesson from them as well.

Glee recieves Golden Globe for Best Comedy

Gleeks everywhere unite!! Glee has just received the Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series. A very well deserved win, in my opinion, and as producer Ryan Murphy put it (or something like it), a win for anyone who has ever recieved a wedgie.

A couple more quick shout outs:

Another well deserved win tonight was Juliana Marguiles for The Good Wife. An excellent actress on an excellent show, how could she not get it?

Way to go Monique!!!

On a technical note......

If anyone can tell me why some of the videos are not sizing right, and how I can fix them, I would really appreciate it. I have tried all that I can, but nothing seems to work. The winner gets my eternal gratitude : )

My Favorite Moment This Week: Barney's Suit Song

Top Moment: Hands down, my top moment goes to the truly awesome NPH for performing his heart out on How I Met Your Mother's 100th episode. If you haven't heard it yet, go ahead and take a listen.

Honorable Mention: Raj tries to convince Sheldon to hang out with a couple of girls again on The Big Bang Theory. After begging doesn't work, Raj gives up his prized Hulk hands signed by Stan Lee, leading to the immortal line "Hulk agrees to second date with puny humans." Classic. If you haven't seen it, have a look.

Allison Sweeny to guest star on Mercy

Straight off of EW.com, Allison Sweeny (The Biggest Loser, Days of Our Lives) will guest star on the NBC Hospital Drama Mercy as a bus crash victim whose injuries may be more serious than what they first appear. The episode will air in March, but if you're a fan, Sweeny is also the host of the Biggest Loser, currently on Tuesdays.

Project Runway Recap: 1/14/2010

Okay, I'm a little late in the game, but I've been working like a dog this past week and just barely got to the new Runway episode this morning. Let me just say, you can feel the energy back into our favorite reality competion (at least fashion wise). I don't know if it was the move back to New York, but I got glimpses of the PR that I have loved for so long. So let's get started.

The Contestants:

A very nicely mixed group, and one with a great amount of personality. Standouts for now(based on personality, not talent) were Anthony, Janeane, Jesus, and Seth. In just the first few minutes, Janeane was crying, Anthony spoke of himself in the third person, and Jesus was already sizing up the competition. Seth, on the other hand, was the first to tell Tim Gunn he was going to continue with his vision despite criticism(it did work for him, more on that later). Can't forget the loopy Ping. Wow, I don't even know if I can name this many designers from last season right off the bat like I can now. I thought I was going to hate Anthony, but he made me chuckle more than once. Jesus, to me, is still coming across like the Christian Soriano wannabe, but it is too early to tell, and after all, that could just be his personality.

The Runway:

Okay, so I'm not necessarily the most fashionable person, given my collection of witty t-shirts and endless supply of Old Navy jeans, but I think I can tell what looks good and doesn't.

Loved, loved, loved that Michael Corrs and Nina Garcia were here. I missed them so. I did wish there were more of Micheal's trademark quips, but it is still the first episode. As far as the dresses go, Emilio's stood out to me, and quickly became my favorite. I didn't really like Seth's (I'm just not a fan of the table cloth type of material) but it was well done, especially in the back. My least favorite was Christiane's, which looked like it was just pieced toghether when she ran out of material.

The Winner: Emilio

Out: Christiane

I'm not surprised by this. If I don't like something, that means the judges will hate it.

Some thoughts:

Nicole Richie was a pretty decent judge. She had a lot of insight and made some really good comments.

As a techical person, I am super jealous of the HP Tablets they get to use as a design tool. They looked soooooooooo sweet. I really, really, really want one (really).

This season is off to a promising start. Let's hope it can keep up the momentum.

Till next time........

Team Conan or Leno: Stars weigh in

Just to show how crazy this is getting, take a look at some of the stuff celebrities are saying:

Rosie O'Donnell
"Five years ago, [Leno] was told that Conan was going to get the driver's seat. He had a lot of time to prepare to do something else, and if he felt he still had the goods, he should have been a man and went over to FOX and competed with him directly rather than put himself on at 10 o'clock and really ruin Conan's chances to begin with. I just think it is an incredibly selfish move and I am Team Conan."

Patton Oswalt
"Comedians who don't like Jay Leno now — and I'm one of them — we're not like, 'Oh my God, Jay Leno sucks.' It's that we're so hurt and disappointed that one of the best comedians of our generation...willfully shut that switch off. ...You almost want to take [Leno] aside and ask him, 'Why do you want this so badly? Because you don't do anything with it.'"

Jerry Seinfeld
"I think [The Jay Leno Show] was the right idea at the wrong time, and it was not a bad idea."

Howard Stern
"It's finally dawned on Conan that Jay Leno had it in for him the whole time. Crapped all over him. ... [Leno] is an evil devil. He's a horrible, horrible guy. I've told you this for years. ... And everybody hates Jay now — which is great. I'm all for hating Jay."

For more, visit http://www.tvguide.com/News/Conan-vs-Leno-1013750.aspx

And if you haven't already, take a look at this youtube video of Jimmy Kimmel as Jay Leno,

You know, Leno is being made out to be quite the villain in all this. I wonder how much of it is true. I never thought of him like that before, and am not sure how I feel now. I guess I will have to look at his side first before I really make a decision. But I will agree, Conan was getting the raw end of the deal.

MTV Plans Telethon for Haiti

On January 22nd, MTV and George Clooney will will team up for a Haitian relief telethon. Visit http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1629742/20100114/story.jhtml for more information, and on other ways you can help out.

Conan Moves On

Here's an interesting development in the NBC late night debacle, courtesy of Variety: Conan O'Brien set to exit Tonight Show.

Though details have not been revealed, O'Brien could see anywhere from 30 to 40 million dollars, and would be able to create a new late night program on another network. If all this is true, I wonder who the real winner is, huh NBC.

Here's an extra article for anyone that is interested on hearing NBC's side of the story: NBC exec calls Conan Chicken Hearted and an astounding failure

Pat Robertson claims Haiti Cursed

Just caught this off of TVGuide.com: Pat Robertson Haiti "Cursed" Because of Pact With Devil. According to the article, Robertson claims during their liberation from the French, Haiti made a deal with the devil, and since has been cursed with one disaster after another.

I am going to get on a soap box for a moment here, so please excuse me. I don't understand why anyone who believes in God would make such a statement. A fair and loving God would not do such a thing, especially to children that had nothing to do with the past. People like Robertson always find a way to make God into what they feel God should be, and curse anyone else that doesn't feel the same way. It seems that the concept of not judging others is always lost on them. Instead of condemning Haiti, we should be sending our prayers. I believe he mentions that, but he should have begun with with a request for prayers and only that. To see for yourself, click on the youtube video below.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox for now. Unless Robertson opens his mouth again.

CBS dominates Monday Night

On the night when How I Met Your Mother reached 100, CBS's comedies dominated Monday. As per Variety, Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory led the pack, with BBT gaining a series high in both overall and demographics.

I knew I wasn't the only one watching on Monday.

Modern Family, Cougar Town, The Middle, picked up by ABC for second season

Fans who thought comedy on ABC (According to Jim doesn't count) was dead can take back their words. According to TVGuide.com Modern Family, The Middle, and Cougar Town have been renewed for a second season. Hank, the fourth comedy starring Kelsey Grammer, was canceled after only five episodes.

Conan to Leave Tonight Show, NBC

Conan O'Brien announced he will not accept the move to a later time offered by NBC, causing a vacancy in the seat he took only seven months ago. According to the Reuters article I found on yahoo, although O'Brien has not mentioned if he was leaving the network, Fox had expressed an interest, but has not pursued it further. O'Brien also stated he did not have any offers from rival networks, and was unsure where he was headed. Had he accepted the time change, Leno would have been moved to an 11:35 slot, with O'Brien and Fallon being moved a half an hour later. NBC remains quiet on the issue.

Glee Open Audition Information

Hopeful Gleeks certainly have something to shout about (I've already used sing twice, and didn't want to be redundant.)As I mentioned in a previous post, the creators of Glee will hold an open casting call for three new roles for the shows second season. According to the Glee Homepage, auditions will begin sometime in February for people between the ages of 16-26, and everyone will be able to submit their auditions online. For more information and updates, you can visit the Glee page on via the Fox Broadcasting Company's Website.

Recap on tonights TV :How I Met Your Mother, Two and a half Men, Big Bang Theory

Tonight was CBS night, and a return of some of my favorite comedies. I know the current trend is towards shows such as 30 Rock and Modern Family, but it's nice to have a place where you can find a more traditional style of sitcom. Some may complain it's an old formula, but if it works, then I say keep the formula going. So let us begin. Warning, there might be some spoilers.

How I Met Your Your Mother: I liked the episode, but I feel so cheated. I'm not the biggest Rachel Bilson fan, but my heart jumped when I finally thought we found the mother. But alas, she was only the roommate. At least we are a step closer. I do have to say, for the 100th episode, it just didn't feel all too memorable, Barney's suit song aside (NPH is AWESOME).

Two and a Half Men: I often hear it's a one joke show. But sometimes, it's a joke told rather well. I enjoyed the Alan/Herb friendship, but honestly, does anyone feel they might as well make Alan gay already. They lean toward it a lot, so it should just become official. Only thing missing was Evelyn. Trust me, it was noticeable.

The Big Bang Theory: Sheldon as a "Wing Man." Nuff said. This was hilarious, and the young lady expecting to bed Sheldon was one of the best endings in the shows history. Who knew a Green Lantern lantern and a pair of Hulk hands were sexy (imo)?

Some of the best lines of the night:
"These broncos have been saddled."
"Hulk agree to second date with puny humans. Hulk sad."
"Goodnight puny human."
and of course "I'll sleep in Leonards room, good night."

You might see that Accidentaly on Purpose is missing. As I mentioned, when formula works, it's fantastic. But when it doesn't....

There you have it. What were your favorite moments tonight? Comment away!!!!

Sarah Palin joins Fox News

It was only a matter of time that Sarah Palin would find a way to end up in the public eye again. The former governor of Alaska has signed on to do commentary for Fox News (read the article here.) Palin does have a background in broadcasting, once working as a sportcaster in Anchorage. Palin is also the author of her bestselling biography Going Rogue.

Fox renews Glee for a second season

First the Carrie Underwood news, and now this: Fox orders second season of Glee as per Variety. Not only will it be back, but an open audition will be held for three new roles. This means everyone from veterans to amateurs will have a chance to compete for a spot on the show. So start practicing guys, it will be intense.

Glee returns in April with new episodes.

American Idol News: Simon Cowell's last season

After much speculation, Simon Cowell revealed that this is indeed his last season of American Idol. According to the article I found on TVGuide's website, Cowell will still be a regular face on the Fox Network, judging and producing an American version of the X-Factor.

Speaking of Project Runway....

If you haven't already, you can take a look at the new designers here, as well as look at their portfolios off the Liftetime website. I haven't looked it over yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this season will be an improvement over the last one. I didn't hate it, but like I mentioned before it didn't entertain me as much as it has in the past.

New Bravo Lineup Announced

Just browsed through the TV Guide website, and came across this: Bravo's New Lineup.

Seems like a lot of their popular shows are returning, such as Flipping Out and My Life on the D-List, with Housewives(can't remember which one, too many to count) spin-off and Jackie from Work Out on a new show. Hopefully they can hold on to these, and not lose them to Lifetime like they did with Project Runway (which is back this month, I'm so thrilled!!!)

Plenty of Guest Stars for NBC in the Spring

30 Rock, Community, and The Office are just some of the shows attracting big names like Kathy Bates, Jack Black, and Jon Hamm. Read more about it from this TVGuide article I found on Yahoo: NBC Guest Stars: Kathy Bates on The Office, Jon Hamm Back to 30 Rock, Others

Update on Leno/O'Brien/Fallon Situation

Here's the latest development from the NBC late-night debacle, courtesy of Tvguide.com: Leno leaving 10 O'clock Timeslot.

If Leno leaves his slot, that will move him to a later time, pushing back Conan and Jimmy Fallon's shows to about a half hour later. Nothing is set in stone yet, as all three have the weekend to agree on the time changes.

America's Got Talent: Howie Mandel is new judge

Here's an article on Tvguide.com concerning the other talent show on TV: Howie Mandel Joins America's Got Talent.

In case you haven't heard, David Hasselhoff has decided to leave after four years in order to create his own show. Mandel, formerly of Deal or No Deal and Howie Do It (and the voice of Gizmo from Gremlins), will be his replacement.

Some may scoff, but I can see this working. Howie Mandel has been a performer for a long time, and has the experience to judge the variety of acts that usually audition for this show. He will certainly give a fresh perspective on things. What do you think? Comment away!!

American Idol News: Randy Jackson on Cowell rumors

Here's Randy Jackson's take on everything happening this season, courtesy of the Reuters article I read on yahoo: Idol judge Jackson calls Cowell rumors distracting.
I think he's right on the money with this one. All this talk about whether or not Simon is leaving, as well as Paula's departure and Ellen filling in, kind of takes the focus away from what the show is about: finding the next superstar (which some could debate, but we won't get into that here.)This should really be about the contestants, and I honestly believe that if you have quality talent, the people will respond. If it's lackluster, well, that's when you will see the audience fall away. So whoever fills the judges chair will hopefully remember that. That's my two cents, give or take a penny.

Gumby creator passes away

Art Clokey, who created the green clay figure known to the world as Gumby as well as Davey and Goliath, has passed away, according the article I read on Variety (read it here). He was 88 years old.

I'm more familiar with Gumby than I am with Davey and Goliath, but there is no question that each has had their impact on popular culture(with parodies on Moral Orel and MadTV, not to mention references on the Simpsons.)I might bust out some of the old Gumby tapes and relive some great childhood memories. Who's with me?

Vampire Diaries Spoilers

Just found some Vampire Diaries spoilers on Michael Ausiello's EW Blog. I won't ruin anything for other fanatics like myself, but it did answer one of my questions, and I have to say, I am quite heartbroken. I'll still watch though, but I won't like it. Okay, that's a lie. I know I'll love it.

Glee cast to visit Cleveland

You knew it was only a matter of time for one of Seth McFarlane's animated comedies to get their hands on my faves at Glee, and now it's offical: the Glee cast will make an appearance on The Cleveland Show. Read all about it here at TVGuidemagazine.com. Don't get your hopes up though, it's only a cameo. Maybe one day.....

The Big Bang Theory

I found this on variety regarding the Big Bang Theory, which is becoming my new number 1 show. Just thought I would share : )

Direct theory on Big Bang explosion

Posted using ShareThis

Basically it says what I figured out when it first premiered: this show is a winner because all the actors work so well together, each providing their own distinct flavor to this mix. Keep up the great work guys.

Two and a Half Men marches on

For those aware of the Charlie Sheen situation, here is some news regarding Two and Half Men I found on Variety's website: Men production unaffected by Sheen arrest

Vampire Diaries Casting News: Melinda Clarke to Play Matt's Mom

Found this off the Michael Aussielo Entertainment Weekly blog: Vampire Diaries exclusive.

I do have to admit, I'm not very familiar with Melinda Clarke by name, having not really been into The O.C., but it appears she has been in a lot of shows that I used to watch as a guest star. (I'm such a bad T.V. nerd.) This should be interesting, since I have always wondered where the heck Matt and Vicky's parents have been. Now I'll finally get some answers.

Friday Night T.V.

Since it's really cold out tonight, decided to stay in and watch two shows I haven't seen in a while: Ghost Whisperer and Medium.

Although not one of my all time favorites, Ghost Whisperer was always a show I enjoyed, especially the lighthearted tone it sometimes takes despite the heavy subjects it deals with. But like many, I kind of lost the love when her husband died and came back in the body of someone else. I was hoping that I could jump right back in to where I left off, but there where too many questions (did Jim become a doctor?) that left me really confused. The story was intriguing though, and I might check it out again.

Medium and I have had a very weird relationship. When it first premiered, I was hooked. It was creepy mixed with some of the most natural domestic scenes I had ever witnessed on T.V. Joe and Allison felt like a real couple, and I loved how her being a Medium wasn't the sole focus. Yes she was a Medium, but a regular mom/wife as well. But then it would go away until mid-season, and sometimes I would be so hooked on something else that I just let it slip away.

Watching tonight's episode reminded me why I enjoyed it so much. Patricia Arquette is so appealing as Allison, and Jake Weber is a perfect fit as her husband Joe. Their scenes together are just magical. Plus, the crime story was just the right amount of spooky, and had a neat twist at the end. The shows humor might not be as light as Ghost Whisperer, but it is still very strong, as shown in the final scene. I definitely will put this one back in the dvr rotation.

There you have it, my night with a pair of ghosts. Not a bad way to spend a Friday. : )

More American Idol News

Here are a couple of articles dealing with American Idol, one from TVGuide.com and the other from Yahoo.

You know, people will probably criticize Ellen for not having any music industry knowledge(it probably has started), but I like how she describes herself to be like the people at home. It's true, most of us probably don't know the technicalities like the other judges do, but we are very quick to say who we think rocks, as well as who stunk to high heaven. To me, her perspective will help people relate more to the show and the critiques given. But, like everything else, only time will tell.

More Leno/Conan News

Here's an article from the AP that I found on Yahoo: O'Brien may find door open at Fox if he bolts NBC.
This would be something, since I believe it would be Fox's first weekday late night show since The Chevy Chase Show, which was a major bomb back in 1993. As far as I know, they've only had two that were strictly on Saturday night (Talk Show with Spike Feresten and The Wanda Sykes Show, which is currently on now.)Hopefully, if this does happen, Conan will fare a lot better than Chase. He deserves it, especially after all this.

Poor Conan

I guess Jay Leno had more power than I thought: Jay Leno's future on NBC up in the air

Don't let the title fool you. The speculation is that they will either put him back on the Tonight Show, or move Conan and Jimmy Fallon to later. I've never been a huge Leno fan (not that I didn't like him, just couldn't get into the show with him) but I can understand why they would want to keep him around. The bright spot is if they did cancel or move him to a new time, it would give NBC a chance to put more programming back in those spots, and to keep what happened to Southland from happening again. At least that is my opinion.

Our Little Genius: first two episodes pulled

I had been seeing the promos for this new game show on the Fox Network called "Our Little Genius," for a while now, and although it's not something that I would see, this article from EW online caught my attention: Fox pulls first two episodes of 'Our Little Genius' over integrity issues

I just think it's funny that the network that brought Joe Millionaire, The Swan, and My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance to the world used the word integrity to describe its shows and the decision to pull the episodes. But I can't fault them too much. They are the ones that provide me with my Glee every Wednesday.

Balloon Boy Dad on Larry King

For those who have been following this story, here's a clip on TVGuide.com of Richard Heene on Larry King Live.

I was debating on whether or not I wanted to post this, since I wanted to keep this strictly about T.V. shows, but then I decided that it will tie in well with a post I intend to write hopefully by this weekend.

American Idol Article

Found this off the yahoo tv news site:"American Idol returns, but how long can it last?"

I think it's interesting that a dip in ratings always makes people cancel a show before their network actually does. If Simon does leave, then I can see the show slipping. Love him or hate him, he is the backbone to the whole thing. In my opinion, I don't think Idol really has anything to worry about for now. It still has the power to generate new talent (Daughtry, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson) and can still serve up some controversy when needed (The Allen/Lambert finale). We'll just have to tune in and see.

Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains Cast

How I Met Your Mother Casting News

Now here's something to sing about: Carrie Underwood will guest star on a future episode of How I Met Your Mother as a love interest for Ted (Josh Radnor), according to the article I read on Yahoo. The episode will air sometime in March.

Hopefully she will fare better than Brittany Spears, who although wasn't as terrible as some cold-hearted people had predicted, she wasn't necessarily memorable.

I'm really excited about this, but I might be a little biased though, since "Wasted" is one of my all time favorite songs.

Thoughts on Tonights T.V. (Wed.)

Since Glee was a repeat, I figured I would try the new comedy block on ABC. I missed The Middle and Modern Family, hopefully I can find them online. I've only seen a couple of episodes of each previously, and I wanted to see if I was missing something great. I was able to catch two of their other shows, one new, one I used to watch, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

First up, Cougar Town, starring former Friends star Courtney Cox. This is the episode I mentioned in a previous post that was going to guest star Lisa Kudrow (also from Friends) and it didn't disappoint. I laughed. A lot. More than I actually thought I would. Yes, it was kind of sleazy and corny, but it was also fun. Just the kind of thing to take your mind off your world for a while. I don't know yet if I will make it appointment T.V., but I'm willing to give it another try.

Next was Ugly Betty, a show I had mentioned that I adored but needed a break from (I guess like all relationships). When the episode started, I was a bit worried. Seeing Betty going through another boyfriend dilemma made my heart sink. But the story didn't end where I expected, and it had just the right amount of drama and comedy. I still didn't feel the spark I had when it first premiered, but I will watch again. Besides, I just love the new look Betty has. More sophisticated and professional. Very fitting for someone moving up in the magazine business.

Well, that's it for now. Tune back tomorrow for more of my simply scintillating reviews : )

Gary Coleman Hospitalized, but doing ok

Gary Coleman, star of Diff'rent Strokes, was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, but appears to be doing okay and is in no immediate health danger, according to an article I read on TVGuide.com. Coleman played Arnold Jackson on the popular sitcom from 1978-1986. His catch phrase "Whatcha talkin' bout Willis?" is one of the most well known words in T.V. history. It's one I definitely remember from my childhood.

I can still picture that episode where Arnold and Sam enter a haunted house dressed as the Ghostbusters. Okay, that's all I remember, but it's still a clear picture.

Lisa Kudrow to Guest Star On Cougar Town

For all of you that wish "Friends" was still on the air, here is the next best thing: According to the article I read on TVGuide.com, Lisa Kudrow will have a guest spot on tonight's episode of "Cougar Town" as Courtney Cox's dermatologist. Sure it's not Monica and Phoebe, but hey, I'm not complaining. Cougar Town airs on ABC at 8:30 central time.

Discovery and ESPN to Have 3-D T.V. Channels

I stumbled upon this article on yahoo today (originally from TVguide.com) that stated both ESPN and Discovery plan to debut 3-D television channels in the coming months. ESPN plans to launch "ESPN 3D" this summer, with Discovery following in early 2011. Although ESPN will be first to offer 3D programming, they will alternate between regular and 3D shows, while Discovery plans to be the first 24/7 3D channel. 3D glasses will be required, as well as a special 3D-capable box. The article finishes with what I first wondered when I read the headline, that there has not been any news on whether this will cost anything new for subscribers.

I love technology, but I'm wondering if this is something that I will immediately jump on. It sounds great, but the skeptic in me always wonders about the negative. I guess like everyone else, I'll have to wait and see if this will be worth it.

Law & Order:SVU Casting News

According to Tvguide.com, Sharon Stone has been cast in a recurring role on the long-running spin off. Stone will join the list of many rotating Assistant District Attorneys this season, which include Christine Lahti and former cast member Stephanie March. Stone is best known for her roles in such films as Casino and Basic Instinct.

I haven't watched the show in forever, but March was my favorite ADA on the show, and it might be interesting to see how Sharon Stone will do in the role as well.

Celebrity Apprentice Season 3 Cast Revealed

I haven't watched since the first time it came on, but I figured some people would like to know, so here is the current list of celebrities to head to the board room as revealed by Tvguidemagazine.com: Cyndi Lauper, Sharon Osbourne, Bret Michaels, chef Curtis Stone, former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, WWE’s Maria Kanellis,Holly Robinson Peete, former MLB star Darryl Strawberry, former WWE wrestler Bill Goldberg,Carol Leifer, Olympic swimmer and sportscaster Summer Sanders,Sinbad, model Selita Ebanks.

I'm actually a big fan of several of these celebs, so I might just check it out.

Favorite Simpsons Episodes

Although they have had many classics (Mr. Plow, A Streetcar Named Marge), for me, nothing competes with Season 2's "The Way We Was," a very sweet retelling of the time Homer and Marge met. Favorite line (and it might not be exact): "I wouldn't go with you if you were Elliot Gould"-a girl in detention turning down Barny's invitation to prom.

What have been your favorite episodes/moments? Comment away!!!

The Simpsons reaches 450!!

On Sunday, January 10th, The Simpsons, one of the true groundbreaking T.V. shows of our time, will air it's 450th episode, followed by Morgan Spurlock's documentary "The Simpson's 20th Anniversary Special 3-D on Ice." The Simpsons have been on the air for about 21 seasons, making it the longest nighttime series of all time.

For the past few years, I haven't watched the show as religiously as I used to, but I will tune in for this milestone. Some may say it's not as sharp as it used to be, but when I catch it every now and then, I still find at least one good laugh, which some "fresher" shows fail to do. Here's to 20 more years!!!! (Well, maybe only 10.)

True Blood Casting News

I was very excited to hear about Alfre Woodard being cast as Lafayette's mom on True Blood, and now it seems he will have a love interest as well. According to the Reuters article I read on Yahoo, Kevin Alejandro(Southland, Ugly Betty), will play Jesus, an orderly taking care of Woodards' character. I have enjoyed his work since his role in Ugly Betty, and feel he will fit in with the other residents in Bon Temps. In the case of Woodard, I love her too, but hope she isn't wasted on here like she was on Desperate Housewives, being limited to interaction with only a few characters. She is too wonderful an actress for that kind of treatment to repeat itself.

My Current Favorite Shows

Here are my current favorites, and probably what you will be hearing about the most until my fickle mind finds something else, in no particular order:

1. The Big Bang Theory
2. How I Met Your Mother
3. Project Runway
4. N.C.I.S (Both Versions)
5. True Blood
6. The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency
7. So You Think You Can Dance
8. The Vampire Diaries
9. Two and a Half Men
10. Glee
11. Community
12. Family Guy/Cleveland Show/American Dad
13. King of the Hill (canceled, I know, but still an all time fave)
14. Dancing with the Stars

As you can see, Lost, Mad Men, Dexter, and others are not here simply because I either haven't had time to get to them or couldn't get into them. But I am interested in hearing what people think of them, that way I can know if I should watch them or not.
Shows I haven't seen but hope to get to via Netflix or somewhere:

1. Dexter
2. Nurse Jackie
3. 24 (shocking, I know)
4. The Good Wife

There are more, but those are the only ones off the top of my head for right now.

Nicole Richie to Guest Judge on Project Runway

I just read on TVGuide.com that Project Runway will have Nicole Richie on Season 7 as a guest judge. I know a lot of people will blast this apart, but after reading up on her (since although I know some, but not all), she could have actual constructive criticism for the designers. According to the article, she does have her own clothing line, as well as a line of jewelry. So I will leave my judgments until I actually see the episode. Compare this one to the casting of Kelly Osbourne for Dancing With the Stars. I'm sure when a lot of people heard her name, the insults started flying, but then the show premiered and look at what happened: she was actually kind charming, and not a bad dancer. Maybe Richie will be the same. Besides, I'm not one to talk. My best outfit is a Spaced Invaders t-shirt and a pair of long cargo shorts.

Did I ever mention how much I love Project Runway? No, well I do. Just thought I would put that out there.
