Dancing with the Stars 5th Elimination

Before we get to the elimination, I thought I would start with my encore dance choice, and I'm glad the judges agreed: Jake and Chelsea's Cha Cha to Risky Business

  Wow, for the first time fan favorite (Tom's words, not mine) Kate Gosselin is in the bottom two. Chad and Cheryl, Pamela and Damien, as well Jake and Chelsea (I guess dancing without pants didn't work. With a body like that, color me shocked) were put in jeopardy. Thankfully, Jake and Chelsea were safe along with Chad and Cheryl, which put Pamela and Damien in the bottom two with Kate and Tony. So who did America send home? Surprise of surprises, Kate and Tony are leaving the dance floor. Putting my feelings of her aside, this was actually a very touching send off. Because of that, I think I will actually keep my snarky comments to myself for once. Well, until she shows up somewhere else. Then all bets are off.

Dancing with the Stars Recap, 3/19/2010

It's movie night tonight. Hopefully that brings out the joy in some of the stars. 


Niecy and Louie- La Bamba-Jive

The dancing seems a little slow for a jive, but she is shaking it with all she’s got. I’ve her energy and spirit. Plus it doesn’t hurt to live your lips on Len’s forehead. Len says she put her personality into it. Bruno felt it lacked the necessary sharpness, but awww, Louie took the blame. That’s sweet. Carrie-Ann called her the shimmy queen.

Score: 18 (booooo goes the crowd. I’m with them)

Chad and Cheryl- The Jungle Book – Quickstep

The song makes me wonder if the Jungle Book will be coming out of the Disney vault. Chad seems more relaxed to me, as if he is having more fun. Bruno says it was a bit too wild and his frame was terrible. Carrie-Ann said he was uneven and lacked body contact. Len said he thought his posture was better than his Foxtrot, but commented on his hold.

Erin and Maks – Pulp Fiction-Jive

She’s got that Uma look down, I just wish they had given her a black wig. I think ths is a definite step up from her tango. She looks calmer, and that makes for a fun dance. Carrie-Ann liked it, but said she was a little ahead of the beat. Len hated the beginning, but liked it once it kicked into high gear. Bruno mumbled something I didn’t understand, but said it was her best timing yet. On a side note, romance will not be in the air until Erin sees a ring like the one Chad got Cheryl. Hmmmmm…..

Jake and Chelsea-Risky Business- Cha Cha

Jaws just dropped across America: Jake in tightie whities. Man, the fun is just infectious tonight. Some parts were good, some parts seemed like he was walking. But I’m still thinking of that beginning. Len says he gave it his all, and loved his feeling, but noticed his mistake. Bruno wonders why he put his pants back on, and complimented his energy, but mentions that mistake as well. Carrie-Ann loved it (surprise surprise)

Score: 23 (I wonder if his thighs had anything to do with it)


Pamela and Damien- 9 to 5- Quickstep

I’m loving the Dolly Parton look. This one starts slow for me (Len will probably hate it), but really picks up. Bruno compliments her characterization and says she did a great job with the dance. Carrie-Ann loved the dance, and thinks Pam belongs on Broadway. Len, hated the beginning (surprise) but liked the bits of dancing.

Kate and Tony – The Breakfast Club- Foxtrot

I see some stuff, but she’s still so stiff and anxious it’s hard to see any improvement. Carrie-Ann sees itty bitty bits of grace forming, but compares her to the Charlie Brown teacher. Len thought it was clean, but it was more of a stroll. Bruno thought she took a step back.

Nicole and Derek – Pretty Woman – Tango

I think it’s safe to say Nicole is back. It was fun, energetic, and from my inexperienced eye, looked pretty spot on. Standing ovation well deserved. Len thought it was her best dance, and the best dance of the season . Bruno said a lot of words, but I think I heard perfection somewhere. Carrie-Ann calls her a superstar, and says it was beautiful.

Score: 29 (Damn you Len, with your 9)

Evan and Anna –Armageddon- Rumba

His height affects some of the movement for me, but you can clearly see how skating helps some of his moves. Bruno thinks it’s superb. Carrie-Ann thinks there was beauty in the movement. Len felt it had artistry and musicality and felt he did a great job.

Dancing with the Stars Elimination 4/13/2010

Well, Kate Gosselin has been given a pass for another week. Like I've said before (not sure if here, but I might have) I'm not a fan, but she did show some improvement over her past dances. Aiden, who was sent home, took a few steps back. He was handsome and charming, however his movements were very stiff. Couple that with a smaller fan base than Kate's (although I would have thought his would have grown over the course of the show. With his face and smile, how could it not have not)and well, you know the rest. I'm sure Kate can still improve, but will it really be enough to stay? Do you think she should have gone home instead of Aiden? Also, did anyone notice they used not one, but TWO Idol contestant songs: Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment and Kris Allen's Live Like Your Dying? Hmmm, is that a shot at beating them in the ratings? Or a coincidence? Comment away!

My Dancing with the Stars Twitter Recap

I decided to Tweet the entire time I watched, so I thought I would share them as a recap. Unfortunately it is in reverse order, so you'll have to start at the bottom. Let me know what you think. Some thoughts that weren't on Twitter: The band really butchered Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment. Hmmm, I guess that was the only one.

tvguy956: Pamela Anderson also had her best dance. Sexy and beautiful. It was magic. 47 out of 60.

tvguy956: Len told Pamela to keep it out of the bedroom. With that outfit, I'm sure that's all anyone can picture.

tvguy956: Chad just did his best dance so far as well. Long way to go as well, but he's also headed the right way.

tvguy956: Kate got a 32 out of 60. Higher than expected.

tvguy956: What I mean is she was actually MOVING. Good job. Now work on the technique. Long way to go, but a step in the right direction.

My DVR Moment of the Week

Well, I never said my top moments were always going to be what was the best on T.V. Case in point: Kate Gosselin's odd (and not in a good way) performance on this weeks Dancing With the Stars. The song choice (Lady Gaga's Paparazzi)  was pure inspiration, since it's a subject Kate faces on a daily basis, however she was just unable to channel that emotion into anything worth watching. She did get another week, so maybe she'll finally get her act together. But I honestly doubt it.




Runner up: Never one to pass up an opportunity, Jimmy Fallon Parodies Kate's dance.



Missed Moment:Tina Fey brings back her Sarah Palin impersonation on SNL. I could kick myself for missing this.

Jimmy Fallon's Paparazzi Interpretation

Man, they should have had Jimmy Fallon on this seasons Dancing With the Stars! Watch as he parodies  Kate Gosselin's Paparazzi dance. The only problem: He is still using too much emotion and movement, even with his stiff interpretation. Have a look. If you can't view it, click here.

Dancing with the Stars Second Elimination, 4/6/2010

I'm not as shocked as last week, since one of the bottom two made sense, but my jaw still slightly fell. The reason: Kate was still safe, and Jake made the bottom two. At least Pamela Anderson didn't fall to the bottom like last week. Buzz being there made sense. He had joy, but absolutely no technique. Kate, on the other hand, had absolutely no joy or technique. But that is the way America voted, and in the end, it was Buzz and Ashely to go home. Although I agree with this, I still would have picked Kate over him just for the fact that I didn't feel so awkward after watching Buzz dance the way I did with Kate. In fact, I sometimes smiled. Not because he did well, but it looked like he was having fun. So what do you think? Did the right person go home?

Dancing with the Stars Mini-Recap

The Stars and Pros were asked to create a story through dance without the stuff that makes Len angry. Did anyone succeed? Let's find out.

Evan and Ana - Quickstep
I enjoy watching Evan dance, and he didn't disappoint. I do agree with Len. He does wonderful work, but needs to work on polishing up a bit.

Buzz and Ashley- Waltz
Buzz has oodles of personality, and there was something very elegant about this dance. I enjoyed it, but not for the technical aspects, which unfortunately are not there.

Jake and Chelsie- Quickstep
I love the song, Walk Like an Egyptian, and it somehow worked for the quickstep. I was a little bored, but I loved the prop use.

Neicy and Louis- Waltz
I love watching her dance, and this was no exception. Except for a minor stumble, she was elegant, and managed to tell the story without a large prop.

Chad and Cheryl- Paso Doble
He had fire, but still needs to work on his moves. It was a an improvement though. Hopefully Cheryl can work her magic.

Pamela and Damien- Paso Doble
How she ended up in the bottom two last week is beyond me. And if she ends up there again with this dance, then something is definitely wrong. She had fire, passion, and technique. Not a bad combination.

Aiden and Edyta- Quickstep
He has improved, but is still a bit stiff out there. He is moving in the right direction though.

Erin and Maks- Waltz
She did a blindfolded waltz (though some of my friends thought they saw two holes in the eyes) and really put her trust in Maks. I thought it was well done, and think she is really moving up as a contender.

Kate and Tony - Paso Doble
It was a great song choice, but the emotion just wasn't there. I would have assumed singing about the Paparazzi would have ignited something, but maybe her nerves are still getting to her. Like Carrie Ann, I was a little weirded out watching it.

Nicole and Derek- Quickstep
It was bouncy, fun, and wonderful to watch. Too bad it wasn't a quickstep. Derek, what were you thinking?

Dancing with the Stars First Elimination

I am in shock. I still don't know what to say. I've always known it was a popularity contest more than a dance competiton, but I still would have thought that even Shannon Doherty would have had a bigger fan base than Kate Gosselin.But somehow, someway, Kate is still in the running, even after having not one but two disastrous dances. It's not that I would have wanted her to go first (okay, I did) but Shannon wasn't even the worst of the pack. If people were voting on skill, then Chad, Aiden, and Buzz would have been in greater danger. Oh well, I guess that's the kind of drama that makes great T.V. Or at least cheesy entertainment. What do you think? Did Shannon deserve to go? Or should it have been Kate?

Well everyone, it's that time again for another round of Dancing with the Stars (hold for applause). If you are like me, you probably only really tune in when someone of interest comes up, and in my opinion we definitely have some head scratchers, as well as some I can get on board with:

My thoughts: It's great to have Ashley back, and although I liked Lacey, Ashley is one pro I have truly missed. Kate Gosselin. Hmmm, I thought this was Dancing with the Stars, not Dancing with People that Exploited their Kids to Get Famous. Poor Tony, hopefully she won't be as abrasive with him as she was reportedly with John on the show (who I am glad didn't make the list. Not that he was actually ever on it, but sometimes these shows can surprise you. You listening Celebrity Apprentice? ) I guess I should also say poor Mark as well. Doherty does have a, *cough*, reputation for being just a tiny bit abrasive, so it's possible when they announce a "team meltdown" we might actually see one, and although it may seem unfair to have a Pussycat Doll (Scherzinger) and a figure skater (Lysacek) on the list, we have to remember that what they do is different from ballroom. That being said, Scherzinger and Lysacek are my early faves, but I am holding a special place in my heart for Niecy Nash, who I absolutely adore. I'm hoping she's the pleasant surprise of the season; the one contestant whose growth outshines the rest. Not to mention the fact that she is just screamingly funny.

Samantha Harris to leave Dancing With the Stars

I guess depending on who you are, you will either find this either really sad or really good news from TVGuide.com: Samantha Harris leaving Dancing with the Stars.

I'll admit, I was never a big fan of hers, but I wasn't part of the population flooded the message boards with hate every time she opened her mouth. In my opinion, live television isn't for everyone, and she just happens to fall in that category. I've seen her in other things, and thought she was pretty decent.

How about you? Are you sad to see her go? Or are you ecstatic?
