My DVR Moment of the Week, 3/18/2010

So many to choose from, but hands down, the moment goes to the return of Glee and the amazing Jane Lynch. Her performance of "Vogue" may not have had much to do with the plot (more connected to this week's "Power of Madonna" episode), but that didn't make it any less fun.




Runner-Up:The return of the "Evil Will Wheaton" on The Big Bang Theory. His manipulations caused Penny to break up with Leonard, leading the boys to lose a bet with Stuart and appear in Superheroine drag at the Comic Book Store. When I saw the picture of Raj as Catwoman, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. His empowered line was one of the best in the entire episode.



Second Runner-up: Drunk Stefan on the Vampire Diaries. Too bad it didn't cure the urge to feed. And an memo to the producers: You've just got David Anders. Don't you dare mess it up like Heroes did.

Missed Moment: I'm still behind on Project Runway. The finale is this week, so I better catch up fast.

Big Bang Theory Gang in Superheroine Drag

Ever wondered what the Big Bang gang would look like in female superhero drag? Well look no further. Click here. All I can say is they couldn't have picked a more perfect Catwoman. They give Halle Berry a run for her money if there is every a sequel (of course I am kidding about the sequel. No one wants that.)

Mayim Bialik to Play Sheldon's Love Interest on Big Bang

Get out your pads and pencils, Mayim Bialik (Blossom) is set to guest star on the Big Bang Theory as Victoria, a potential love interest for Sheldon. The duo will have a date on the season finale after meeting on an online dating site, with Bialik possibly returning next season.

For my thoughts on Sheldon in a relationship, click here. In short, I was never really in favor of putting Sheldon in any type of romantic setting, since I thought it would take away from his bewilderment of human interaction. However, since they are putting Bialik's Victoria as the female Sheldon, it would be interesting to see how he reacts to someone as anal as him, and whether or not he would even notice.  That is something I would love to see.

My DVR Moment of the Week

My DVR Moment of the Week comes from The Big Bang Theory, which provided not one but two memorable moments: Sheldon fighting off his stage fright with alcohol (thanks to a helpful Penny) and the aftermath of learning your escapades landing you on youtube (which has become a big fear of mine, so now I'm extra careful of what I do in public.)





Runner up: Spartacus is forced to put a sword on his friend Varro in Spartacus:Blood and Sand. Though it's far from a masterpiece, this show has upped game a bit and actually was able to put a surprise in there, which for a jaded viewer like myself, is very hard to do.

Big Bangs Sheldon vs. American Dad's Roger: Who Makes The Better Gollum

In the past couple of weeks we have seen two parodies of  Lord of the Rings on T.V. First came American Dad, who used an Olympic Gold Medal owned by Roger as the ring, and on The Big Bang Theory, which had the gang fight over a prop from the movie. Naturally, someone had to play the scene-stealing Gollum, and who better than scene-stealers Sheldon and Roger. Take a look at their different takes, and comment on which one you thought was better. I found them both funny, but the sight of Sheldon in full Gollum make-up had me crawling on the floor.

My DVR Moment of the Week

This weeks top choice goes to Project Runway and the judges for completely missing the mark this week. Jesse's dress may not have been a good look, however in terms of totally messing up the challenge, Emilio took a bigger risk with an even worse payoff. Now I'm not going against their critiques (which you can see below), I just think in terms of overall product, they sent the wrong person home. Hopefully Jesse can take this a stepping stone and turn into a name to truly watch out for. I'm rooting for you!!!

Runner-up: Raj and his sound effects T-shirt on the Big Bang Theory. There were so man funny moments, including Sheldon's meeting and ultimate restraining order with Stan Lee, but this is the one that had me laughing the hardest.



Missed Moment: Alicia's husband returns home on The Good Wife. Luckily I still have it saved.

'Big Bang Theory' mystery: Is Sheldon gay?

I'm not sure how I feel about this: 'Big Bang Theory' mystery: Is Sheldon gay?

One, it might be fun to see Sheldon struggle with feelings he just doesn't quite understand, especially if it is for another male, however part of the fun is watching him observe and be confused by the antics that surround him. Putting him in relationship would take that very valuable trait away, and kind of make him like the rest of the group (not that it would be a bad thing, they are all great, but you know what I mean.) However, if they do go that route, I would love to see his reaction to being with both sexes. His analytical mind would allow nothing less, since he always has to explore every possiblity. Now that might make some interesting T.V.

Jim Parsons draws NAB award

It may not be the Emmy or a Golden Globe (not that I'm belittling this particular group, I'm trying to make a point), but it's nice to see Jim Parsons get some recognition for his brilliant portrayal of Dr. Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory.

CBS continues to dominate Monday Nights

The Big Bang Theory and Two and Half Men, the dynamic duo of Monday nights (I couldn't resist) continued their hot streaks in the ratings game. Big Bang posted the highest numbers with 18-49 year olds, while Men was the most watched program overall. Hulk says puny humans need to keep watching (sorry, couldn't resist again, I promise I'll stop.) Read more about other Monday shows and their ratings here.

Stan Lee to Guest star on Big Bang Theory

Stan Lee, the creator of Spider Man and other fan boy classics, is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of the Big Bang Theory. Lee will pay a visit to the gang's favorite comic book store, and I think you can figure out the rest. I, for one, cannot wait to see Sheldon's reaction, and pray he will have the hulk hands on at the time. I mean, it just makes sense that he would.

My DVR Moment of Last Week

This weeks honor goes out to The Big Bang Theory, which had me laughing consistently, but none more so than seeing Sheldon trapped by his own security system, and no longer the master of his own bladder.

Runner-up: Elena and Damon, The Vampire Diaries. I'm still on team Stefan, but there was a kind of sweetness to their interaction, even if Damon has something up his sleeve. Just when you think our favorite bad boy vamp has gone soft, he cold heartedly (I guess there isn't any other way with a vamp) kills Gina Torres's character for tipping off Lexi's boyfriend to his whereabouts. As I have said before, I can't wait to see where this is going.


Second Runner Up: Finally a challenge on Project Runway that is a challenge to creativity and provided a little drama. Not only did the designers have to create an outfit out of a burlap sack, they were also hand selected by the models. So naturally, someone gets a little po'd.

Missed moment: An NPH directed episode of How I Met Your Mother. And I call myself a fan. For shame.

My Favorite Moment This Week: Barney's Suit Song

Top Moment: Hands down, my top moment goes to the truly awesome NPH for performing his heart out on How I Met Your Mother's 100th episode. If you haven't heard it yet, go ahead and take a listen.




Honorable Mention: Raj tries to convince Sheldon to hang out with a couple of girls again on The Big Bang Theory. After begging doesn't work, Raj gives up his prized Hulk hands signed by Stan Lee, leading to the immortal line "Hulk agrees to second date with puny humans." Classic. If you haven't seen it, have a look.

CBS dominates Monday Night

On the night when How I Met Your Mother reached 100, CBS's comedies dominated Monday. As per Variety, Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory led the pack, with BBT gaining a series high in both overall and demographics.

I knew I wasn't the only one watching on Monday.

Recap on tonights TV :How I Met Your Mother, Two and a half Men, Big Bang Theory

Tonight was CBS night, and a return of some of my favorite comedies. I know the current trend is towards shows such as 30 Rock and Modern Family, but it's nice to have a place where you can find a more traditional style of sitcom. Some may complain it's an old formula, but if it works, then I say keep the formula going. So let us begin. Warning, there might be some spoilers.

How I Met Your Your Mother: I liked the episode, but I feel so cheated. I'm not the biggest Rachel Bilson fan, but my heart jumped when I finally thought we found the mother. But alas, she was only the roommate. At least we are a step closer. I do have to say, for the 100th episode, it just didn't feel all too memorable, Barney's suit song aside (NPH is AWESOME).

Two and a Half Men: I often hear it's a one joke show. But sometimes, it's a joke told rather well. I enjoyed the Alan/Herb friendship, but honestly, does anyone feel they might as well make Alan gay already. They lean toward it a lot, so it should just become official. Only thing missing was Evelyn. Trust me, it was noticeable.

The Big Bang Theory: Sheldon as a "Wing Man." Nuff said. This was hilarious, and the young lady expecting to bed Sheldon was one of the best endings in the shows history. Who knew a Green Lantern lantern and a pair of Hulk hands were sexy (imo)?

Some of the best lines of the night:
"These broncos have been saddled."
"Hulk agree to second date with puny humans. Hulk sad."
"Goodnight puny human."
and of course "I'll sleep in Leonards room, good night."


You might see that Accidentaly on Purpose is missing. As I mentioned, when formula works, it's fantastic. But when it doesn't....

Basically it says what I figured out when it first premiered: this show is a winner because all the actors work so well together, each providing their own distinct flavor to this mix. Keep up the great work guys.
