Sandra Bullock Accepts Razzie Award in Person

I always knew there was a reason everyone liked her: Sandra Bullock accepted the Razzie Award for Worst Actress for her role in All About Steve in person, the first actress since Halle Berry did a few years ago for Catwoman. Bullock also brought a red wagon filled with the DVD of All About Steve, and asked that the voters take a second look. She even had a shooting script with her, giving a opportunity of those who wished to give her suggestions on how she could have done better. Bullock is also the front runner for Best Actress at this years Oscars for her role in The Blind Side. If she wins, she will be the first to have received both a Razzie and an Oscar in the same year. Bullock also took home the Worst Screen Couple award, which she shares with fellow co-star Bradley Cooper.

Academy Award Nominations

You've probably heard them already (darn full-time job, just kidding boss, I love working....and receiving a steady income) but here are the list of nominees for this years Academy Awards. It might be worth noting that this years has some significance, with 10 movies being nominated for Best Picture, the first time in sixty-six years. Also, and I still have to look this up to be sure, but I think that this is the first time an animated picture (Up) has been nominated for Best Picture since Beauty and the Beast. Katherine Bigelow is the fourth woman to be nominated for Best Director, and if she wins, will be the first. Precious director Lee Daniels is the second African American director to receive a nomination, following John Singleton almost twenty years ago. And, as I mentioned before, this could be the year an actress who is nominated for Best Actress could win this as well as the Razzie for Worst Actress of the year. I won't name her right now, since I adore her, but you can read it here in my previous post. The ceremony will air March 7th, with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin serving as hosts.

This should be a very interesting night. Go Sandra and Mo'nique!!!!!

Razzie Nominations Announced

The 2009 Nominations for the Golden Razzie Awards (the anti-oscars if you will) have been announced. Taking top honors this year as worst picture include Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. I'm not sure, but this might actually be the first time two movies based on toys have been nominated. I could be wrong, given the majority that have been released but have not been up to par. Also of note: Sandra Bullock, considered a frontrunner for an Oscar this year, could be the first to win both an Academy Award and a Razzie (for the Blind Side and All About Steve, respectively.)
