It's official, Coco has found on a new home. Conan O'Brien's yet to be titled new late night talk show is set to debut on TBS in November after the World Series in the 11/10c time slot. He will be followed by George Lopez's Lopez Tonight. O'Brien entered negotiations after being personally asked by Lopez to join the TBS late-night line-up, according to the article I read on TVGuide. Until then, O'Brien is going on a national tour and can still be found on Twitter. This is a very happy end to a long, tiresome debacle, and I'm glad to see everything worked out.

Leno's side of the story
On a previous post, I wrote that I was going to wait and see what Jay Leno had to say before making any judgments against him, unlike many others out there, and while browsing through the T.V. news on Yahoo came across this: Leno: Don't Blame Conan (or Me).
According to the article, Leno asked to be let out of his contract twice, and had told NBC executives that moving him to the 10 o'clock slot was a very bad idea. Leno also states that NBC had misled him into thinking that the move back to his old time slot was agreed upon by all, including Conan. O'Brien had rejected the plan a week earlier, and has been negotiating with NBC on a proper settlement amount (with some sources citing as much as 30 million).
I'm not sure what to think on this. On one hand, it could just be damage control. On the other, it wouldn't surprise me one bit for it to all be NBC's fault. They have not done the best when it comes to managing their programming lately, and this kind of blunder would fit in with their already souring reputation. But before I scream conspiracy or cover-up, I'm gonna get myself a little bit more informed. Although, as I have said before and I'll say again, I still feel that Conan was the one who ultimately got the most unfair treatment, and deserves as much money as he can get.

You know, Leno is being made out to be quite the villain in all this. I wonder how much of it is true. I never thought of him like that before, and am not sure how I feel now. I guess I will have to look at his side first before I really make a decision. But I will agree, Conan was getting the raw end of the deal.

Conan to Leave Tonight Show, NBC
Conan O'Brien announced he will not accept the move to a later time offered by NBC, causing a vacancy in the seat he took only seven months ago. According to the Reuters article I found on yahoo, although O'Brien has not mentioned if he was leaving the network, Fox had expressed an interest, but has not pursued it further. O'Brien also stated he did not have any offers from rival networks, and was unsure where he was headed. Had he accepted the time change, Leno would have been moved to an 11:35 slot, with O'Brien and Fallon being moved a half an hour later. NBC remains quiet on the issue.

Update on Leno/O'Brien/Fallon Situation
Here's the latest development from the NBC late-night debacle, courtesy of Tvguide.com: Leno leaving 10 O'clock Timeslot.
If Leno leaves his slot, that will move him to a later time, pushing back Conan and Jimmy Fallon's shows to about a half hour later. Nothing is set in stone yet, as all three have the weekend to agree on the time changes.

More Leno/Conan News
Here's an article from the AP that I found on Yahoo: O'Brien may find door open at Fox if he bolts NBC.
This would be something, since I believe it would be Fox's first weekday late night show since The Chevy Chase Show, which was a major bomb back in 1993. As far as I know, they've only had two that were strictly on Saturday night (Talk Show with Spike Feresten and The Wanda Sykes Show, which is currently on now.)Hopefully, if this does happen, Conan will fare a lot better than Chase. He deserves it, especially after all this.

Poor Conan
I guess Jay Leno had more power than I thought: Jay Leno's future on NBC up in the air
Don't let the title fool you. The speculation is that they will either put him back on the Tonight Show, or move Conan and Jimmy Fallon to later. I've never been a huge Leno fan (not that I didn't like him, just couldn't get into the show with him) but I can understand why they would want to keep him around. The bright spot is if they did cancel or move him to a new time, it would give NBC a chance to put more programming back in those spots, and to keep what happened to Southland from happening again. At least that is my opinion.
