Blast from the Past: Pac-Man

For those who weren't sure how big the video game phenomenon known as Pac-Man was, look no further than this 80's cartoon based on the hungry little fellow. This was another Hanna-Barbera variation on the family unit (such as the Flintstones and the Jetsons), but with a Pac-Man twist, having Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and even baby Pac-man taking the place of Fred, Wilma, and Pebbles. Fun fact, this aired back to back with former blast from the past entry Rubik, the Amazing cube. Take a look at the intro and enjoy.

Blast From the Past: Galaxy High

Now, I'm going to admit something that might come as quite a shock to some people: I was a big nerd in school. I'm proud of it now, but back then I was ashamed. That's why underdog stories involving nerds always kept a small place in my heart, and Galaxy High was no exception. For those that remember this 80's cartoon, the plot centered around Amy and Doyle, two Earth students chosen to attend an outer space school named Galaxy High. Amy was your typical unnoticed bookworm, while Doyle was the school stud. However, once they arrived, their lives switched. Amy became a the sweetheart of the school, while Doyle had a hard time making friends. I don't think it lasted very long, however it's one that a lot of people seem to fondly remember, even if they weren't nerds like me. Check out the intro below, or if you can't see it, click here.

Fun fact: One of the writers has become a famous director, whose credits include one of the most beloved film series of all time. Wanna know who, click here.

Blast From the Past: Rubrik The Amazing Cube

A few weeks ago, Seth McFarlane (Family Guy) made a reference to an 80's cartoon called Rubrik The Amazing Cube on Real Time with Bill Maher. Now, I like to think of myself as a T.V. aficionado, but it appeared that after much thought, I just could not place this one. Luckily we have youtube, however even after watching the intro. I still only have a vague idea of the show. Hopefully you all will have better luck than I did. Anyone remember it?

Andrew Koenig's Body Found

I was honestly hoping for the best in this situation, unfortunately that is not the case.  The body of Andrew Koenig, best known for playing Boner on Growing Pains and who was reported missing has been found in Vancouver, and according to his father, committed suicide. Police have not released details, but do not believe there was any foul play.

In honor of Andrew, I have decided to make this weeks Blast from the Past an episode from Growing Pains that I remember him the best in, courtesy of Hulu.com(click on the link below).

Title: Semper Fidelis Plot: Mike feels abandoned after Boner joins the Marines.

Blast from the Past: Muppet Babies

This weeks Blast from the Past honoree will ask us to sit back and use our imagination when it's too rainy to go outside. So if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm talking about the Muppet Babies. Each episode featured our favorite Muppets (in baby form) as they jumped from one adventure to another, all with the power of their minds. What I really liked about this one is that it combined clips from movies and shows in telling some of their stories. As a kid it seemed really neat, and now I want to see them again as an adult in order to see if I can name them all.The trivia section on IMDB states that the clips were so extensive, that putting all the episodes on DVD or syndicating them would be impossible due to royalties and fees. I wonder how much of that is true?

Some other trivia of note: the character of Skeeter was never a Muppet. She was only used for the cartoon. They were also attended by a never seen but only heard Nanny. Wanna take a guess at who played her? Can't place her, then click here to find out.

I found two different intros on youtube, so I assume that it must have changed during it's run. Enjoy!!!
