Designing Women Star Dixie Carter Passes Away

Dixie Carter, better known as Julia Sugarbaker from TV's Designing Women has passed away. She was70 years old.

Her publicist confirms that she died Saturday morning, but would not disclose the cause. Carter was also known for her Broadway performances, and often featured her beautiful signing voice on Designing Women. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Hal Hallbrook.

Carter's character Julia was known for her very passionate, "terminator" style speeches, and none were more intense than "The Nights went out in Georgia" speech given in defense of her sister, Suzanne. If you've never seen Dixie Carter in action, then this would be the scene to start. R.I.P. Dixie, you will be missed.

Update on Dixie Carter.
